& mdash; On Wednesday, lawmakers will question the heads of three school districts in liberal cities about the so-called anti-Semitism, which is the first such congressional hearing for K-12 schools.

The hearing began at 10:15 am EST, giving Republicans an opportunity to confront new york City officials. Berkeley, California; And montgomery county, Maryland.

The K-12 hearing will be held by the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education, and will also include representatives of the American Civil Liberties Union.

It is no coincidence that the witnesses at Wednesday's hearing represent school districts in liberal cities. Republicans try to get political points by attacking "awakening" policies that they think allow hate speech.

An independent House Committee plans to hold a hearing on anti-Semitism reports on George Washington University campus. Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington, and Pam Smith, the police chief of DC, will testify about their reaction to campus camping before. But on Wednesday morning, after the camp was cleared and the police arrested dozens of people, the Committee cancelled the hearing.

The principal of an Ivy League school was also arraigned by Congress for anti-Semitism on campus. Presidents of Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania were overthrown after hearings in December.

The trial will take place one day after the U.S. Department of Education said in a letter reviewed by CNN that it was investigating the Berkeley Unified School District's discrimination allegations based on common Jewish or Israeli ancestry.

A copy of the letter was sent to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and brandeis Center, saying that the civil rights office of the department would investigate whether the area complied with the requirements of Chapter VI to prevent discrimination and harassment. The department is also investigating whether Berkeley retaliated against two parents who complained about harassment of Jewish origin.

CNN has contacted the school district for comment. The Ministry of Education submitted the question to the list of schools that are currently being investigated by the common ancestor. However, this list does not currently include the Berkeley campus.

The complaint filed by the Brandeis Center details dozens of incidents in Berkeley, including students allegedly shouting "Kill Jews", "Jews" and "Klan".

Enikia Ford Morthel, head of the Berkely Unified School District, is one of three school officials scheduled to testify on Wednesday.

She will attend the meeting with David Banks, principal of new york Public School, and Carla Sylvester, chairman of montgomery county Education Commission.
